i was having a short conversation with my neighbour.

Marriage Consummation - emailed question has me stumped

i received an email from a jw that got married, but the wife never had sex with him.

they were together for a period of years.

he told the elders, but they said there was nothing that could be done.

I know Catholic teaching on this matter is that the marriage can be annulled. No consumation= no marriage = annullment.

More to the point, why wouldn't his wife sleep with him? That's very strange.

this past weekend i wasted my time at another jw ca, during this time this is what our new do shared with all the drones and i just wanted to share with all of the current awaken jw's or ex-jw's.. .

public address: who is rocking the nations, and how?.

we all know the jw leaders love talk about numbers!.

Hey, they gotta keep beating the drum to move the witnesses' tired butts. Without all the statistics about the five year plans and reports from good party members, jws just won't give a damn and move on with their lives.

Did You Ever Learn Anything From The Meetings?

i found the meetings to be especially boring from the late 1980s on.

before that, we actually tried to make people want to listen.

the meetings were pretty interesting.

Learned to find bible verses quickly and learned how to make pretty borders in my notebook.

some of the comments on the anthony morris topics have been despicable.. if someone is an idiot or a biggot then they are damaging themselves.. if 'we' start posting vile filth, insults and threats then it doesn't convince anyone other than we're probably as bad..

We don't have to say something nice about him, but hateful name calling is just not kosher. I agree with Simon that we need to be better than that. I wi say what I think, that he is a dangerous and deluded man, the evidence being that millions of people follow him and listen to his extreme rants, and he is deluded because he believes he speaks for God. Extreme ideas, hatred and megalomania are a dangerous combination.

Should I allow my mom to see the grandchildren?

so i am not officially da/do yet and my family has shunned me hard.

today crying my mother calls me to beg to see my children... should i let her?

i feel that if you can speak abusive of your own son and wife and shun the.

I've heard of a little kid crying because her mum is not jw and will die at Armageddon cuz her jw grandma has had her over for weekends since she was young. Non jw mum let the girl have relationship with jw grandparents and ended up becoming jw herself because of pressure not just from her parents but from her little daughter as well. Your mum will weaponise your kids and they will absorb her cult rubbish and spew it at you. Marketing calls it pester power. You won't give into it of course like my friend did, but do you really want to deal with that? As everyone says here, supervised contact will force your mum to behave herself or else reveal to the children what a hypocrite she is. Young kids can often pick up vibes like that. They may even decide they don't want to see nana because she makes them uncomfortable.

What allows parents to shun their children ?

my son, went to college and got his bachelors degree.

he started his own anmation company about two years ago, and it really has taken off.. while my wife and i were witnesses, we both received grief about allowing our son to go to college, but we stood up for him and backed his decision to attend 110%.. anyway, this past week he finally closed on a very nice, neat condiminium .. and while he is getting ready to move out on his own, i have quite a few feelings of sadness,as a parent, seeing him move on is kinda rough, but realizing that this is a very good thing for him makes it easier.

he will only be about 7 miles away.

Probably social and religious pressure. I've heard of people in Africa shunning their children who contract hiv. It's considered a shame to the family or they're afraid of catching it themselves. Also consider cultures in which honour killings are performed. A father will kill his own daughter if she's raped because it's considered a shame to the family. That any parent can do that shows that they are not loving and too caught up in the pressures of their social and religious beliefs and values.
